The early part of the piece uses several mallet instruments and piano to add depth to the sound of the ensemble. The middle section of the piece ìhovers" over a series of chords, as if trying to peer into a looking glass, or mirror, from different vantage points. The piece goes through several key areas before a feeling of arrival is reached. It is not until the closing section of the work that quiet serenity comes, represented by interwoven lines in the woodwinds.
