PREMIER PIECE is designed to be performed by beginning bands and is ideal as your first performance piece.
The piece can be performed by full band or any combination of a first and second part plus a bass part. The trombone part is optional and can be used with full instrumentation or dropped if you have weak trombone players.
Percussion parts could be expanded by having a tambourine double the triangle part.
In addition to full band performance there are many combinations which could be created and performed.
A brass quartet of 1st trumpet, 2nd trumpet, clarinet and bass clarinet. Try two flutes and bassoon or baritone sax. Whatever combination you have available with three instruments or more will successfully perform this piece.
Beginning bandsmen can play a four measure phrase. Give full attention to the phrasing marks in the piece. Students who have trouble playing four measures at a time are not utilizing their air in an efficient manner (beginning flutes and tubas may sometimes be the exception).
This piece will match with most beginning band methods as range is the primary six beginning notes plus the leading tone A.
