Arranger Gary Bricault has prepared this excellent arrangement for the saxophone choir. Sopranino, 2 Sopranos, 5 altos, 3 tenors, 2 baritones and an optional bass saxophone.
Carnival is the center of a triptych of overtures composed on the themes of "Nature, Life, and Love." Dvorak's own program notes of Carnival depicts "a lonely, contemplative wanderer reaching at twilight a city where a festival is in full swing. On every side is heard the clangor of instruments, mingled with shouts of joy and the unrestrained hilarity of people giving vent to their feelings in songs and dances."
Our thanks to the University of Miami Frost School of Music Saxophone Choir for recording this selection.
